Your local sky, on your home screen.
Alpine is an animated wallpaper for Android. The sun rises at the exact time, clouds drift with the wind, rain, snow and storms arrive when they are forecast, and the moon follows its real phases.

Sunset
Weather you feel, not just read
Alpine does not replace your forecast app: it shows you what the weather is like at a glance, every time you unlock your phone.
The images on this page are renders from Alpine's graphics engine, with its real landscapes, unretouched. They are not screenshots of the interface.
- The real sky where you are
- Clouds, light or heavy rain, snow, fog, thunderstorms with lightning, and wind, based on forecasts from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway).
- Sun and moon in their place
- Sunrise, sunset, twilight, starry nights and moon phases are calculated on your phone for your location, offline.
- A landscape that fits you
- 28 illustrated landscapes, chosen according to your region and the season: mountains, forest, beach, savanna, desert, dunes or sea ice.
- Depth
- The landscape shifts across several layers when you swipe between screens, and the vegetation sways gently in the wind.
- Battery-friendly
- Rendering stops when the wallpaper is hidden, slows down in battery saver mode, and the weather is updated at most once an hour.
A landscape for every region
Alpine recognises the type of landscape where you are, offline, using a built-in world map and the altitude provided with the weather. You can also choose for yourself.

Four seasons, and snow when it snows
Every landscape exists in spring, summer, autumn and winter, depending on the date and your hemisphere. If it snows where you are, the landscape stays snow-covered for two days as long as it is cold, even out of season. Where winters are mild, it keeps its autumn colours.

Respectful by design
Alpine is free, works without an account and contains no ads, no in-app purchases and no analytics.
- Approximate location only
- Sent rounded to about 1 km to get the weather, or replaced by a city you choose.
- Nothing leaves your phone without a reason
- Vercolabs neither receives nor stores your data. Details in the privacy policy.
- Works offline
- Animations, sun, moon and landscapes keep going without a network; the latest forecast is still used.

Quick questions
Do I need an Internet connection?
Only to update the weather. Everything else works offline, and the latest forecast is used for 48 to 72 hours.
How does the weather work?
From the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway), which publishes worldwide forecasts under the open CC BY 4.0 licence.
Do I need an artificial intelligence key?
No. Alpine works fully with its 28 built-in landscapes. Creating landscapes with AI is an advanced option, off by default, which uses your own OpenAI account, billed by OpenAI.
