Terms of use

Version of October 15, 2026. These terms apply to the Alpine app, published by Vercolabs.

This text is a translation. In case of any difference, the French version prevails.

1. Purpose

Alpine is an animated wallpaper for Android showing a landscape whose sky follows the time, season, weather, sun and moon of the chosen location. These terms govern its use. By installing or using Alpine, you accept them.

2. Licence

Vercolabs grants you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use Alpine on the devices linked to your Google Play account, for private use. Copying, reselling, redistributing, decompiling or modifying the app is prohibited, except where permitted by law.

3. Free of charge

Alpine is free. It contains no ads, no in-app purchases and no subscription, and Vercolabs asks you for no payment. Any charges related to the artificial intelligence option are billed directly by OpenAI to your own account (see section 5).

4. Weather information

Alpine illustrates the weather using forecasts from MET Norway. This information is provided for guidance only and may be inaccurate, incomplete or unavailable. Do not use it for any safety-related decision (mountains, sailing, weather warnings): consult the official weather services.

5. Artificial intelligence option

  • Creating landscapes with AI is optional and uses your own OpenAI account and your own API key.
  • Charges billed by OpenAI are your responsibility and do not come from Alpine. Vercolabs receives no share of them.
  • You remain responsible for your key, its use and compliance with OpenAI's terms. We recommend a dedicated key with a spending limit.
  • Images created are subject to OpenAI's terms; they must not be presented as made by a human.

6. Third-party services and availability

Alpine relies on third-party services (MET Norway, OpenStreetMap, the device's geocoder, OpenAI if you use it). Vercolabs does not control their availability or their terms, which may change. Without a connection, Alpine keeps working with its landscapes and the latest forecast received.

7. Liability

Vercolabs takes great care over Alpine but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation on all devices. To the extent permitted by law, Vercolabs is not liable for indirect damage related to the use of the app or third-party services. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law grants you as a consumer.

8. Personal data

See the privacy policy.

9. Changes to these terms

These terms may change with the app. The version in force is published on this page, with its date.

10. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law, without depriving you of the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence. If you have a problem, please write first to vercolabs@benmab.com; you may also refer the matter to the competent courts.
